PEX Repiping

  • 1 min read

PEX is arguably the most important plumbing invention since the flushing toilet. PEX is an acronym for PolyEthylene pipe that is cross-linked (hence the X). PEX lasts for years is flexible and requires no glue or soldering to install. There are also fewer fittings so PEX installation takes far less time. PEX can also be attached to your existing copper pipes, which makes it desirable if only a small portion of your copper has been compromised.

  • PEX (Cross-Linked Polyethylene) Has Several Advantages Over Copper
  • PEX is cheaper than copper. Half-inch PEX is approximately a third the price of copper
  • PEX is faster to install because the connections are not soldered. Soldering takes a long time and is potentially dangerous
  • PEX will not corrode. Studies have shown that PEX can last over 200 years
